1. Clinical Training and Continual Medical Education (CME)

African researchers seek to leave Africa for other continents when they lack funding, materials and partners to work with. This training sessions does not only chat the way to retain our researchers and scientists but also to equip them with opportunities to excel and be more productive in Africa.

2. The BWI Hub {Centre of Excellence in Neuroscience}

The BWI Hub a.k.a. Centre of Neuroscience Excellence will be dedicated to deal with full laboratory related challenges to individuals dealing with Neuro-related illnesses. The BWI Hub is expected to be well equipped with diagnostics and research ‘equipment donation based or directly funded and will consist of well equipped neuroscience laboratories, neuro-imaging, electrophysiological parameters such as; Electroencephalogram (EEG) and other Neuro-Technology etc for the use of African neurologists, neuroscientists and African communities at large.

Different sections of the BWI Hub will be established in African region and will be manned by African neuroscientists in the particular region.

3. NeuroScience/Brain Wellness related researches

BWI will pull from the creams of the African Neuroscience researchers in Africa and the whole globe focusing on:

  • Neurological disorders/sicknesses such as Alzheimer, Strokes, Autism, Parkinson, etc.
  • Brain wellness challenges such as Schizophrenia, Biopolar, Epilepsy.
  • Others will focus on African Peculiar faunas and floras towards medicine discoveries on the above for Africans and the globe in general.
  • Drugs use and abuse.
  • Neurodevelopmental disorders

4. Initiation of Dedicated endowments on Brain Wellness and Research Funding in Africa

There will be dedicated endowments for partners (such as pharmaceutical companies, research institutes etc) and researchers wish to have dedicated platforms for researches, trainings and exchange programmes.

BWI - Strategies

The following strategies will be adopted by the BWI team to achieve the set mandates:

  • Research - Neurosciences and Brain wellness related topics, Flora and fauna towards drug discoveries
  • Trainings: Mentors, students and community
  • Advocacy for brain wellness, drug and substance abuse disorders etc
  • Policy engagement
  • Provide avenues to interface Teaching and Research in Neuroscience (at Institutions) with Engagement and Outreach Events in each country according to governmental levels (national to provincial/state to local government or province or counties)
  • Translation of the book “How the brain works” or Fact Sheets on “Brain Basics” or “Brain Facts” in African Languages
  • Initiate Dedicated Endowments on Brain Research funding in Africa
  • Organise and coordinate Diaspora Visits by established Neuroscientists
  • Provision of Neuro-data: Undertake Community Surveillance research around mental Wellness
  • Teaching Tools Workshop in Neuroscience: Junior Faculty in Universities becoming Researchers.
